Copilot Cowork is a new way to get ongoing work done inside Microsoft 365 Copilot. Instead of asking Copilot for a single response or document and then starting over, you can delegate long-running, multi-step tasks that unfold over minutes or even hours.

With Cowork, you’re not just generating one artifact (like a single email or slide deck). You’re asking an AI coworker to help manage a broader workflow, coordinate actions across apps, and produce real outputs as the work progresses—while you stay in the loop.

Copilot Cowork uses something called Work IQ to get a complete view of your work context. Instead of working from isolated prompts or small snippets of data, it can reason over all relevant materials available to it inside Microsoft 365.

This means Cowork can connect the dots between documents, emails, chats, and other content you already use every day. With that broader context, it can help you rethink and reimagine how you handle multi-step tasks, making its assistance more accurate and aligned with what you’re actually working on.

Copilot Cowork is designed for tasks that don’t fit neatly into a single prompt or a single app. It’s well suited for work that:
